Dr. BPK, I am chugging through your LKG material, in unit 3.2 now. I'm really enjoying it :) One of the biggest difficulties has been pronouncing υ and οι. I'm working at it and I'm getting better, but something that would really help me stay strong is understanding why υ and οι are pronounced as [y] in your system. How do you know that this is correct or the best guess/approximation?

Dr. BPK, After completing your 6-unit beta course with BLC, what do you recommend for further education? Do you have particular books/materials/etc. that we should be equipped for at that point?

I am going through Dr. BPK's Koine Greek introductory course with the Biblical Language Center. It is very difficult pronouncing some of the new sounds! I am OK at pronouncing ρ as a "tap" or even as a "trill," but it is VERY difficult for me when it follows τ, as in μαθήτρια. Does anyone have any tips for pronouncing this? Sometimes it just feels like my mouth is falling apart into a weird "L" sound. Sometimes I can't make the sound at all if my mouth is tired from the exercises. At this point, I might be able to "force" it by making the sound louder or sharper (putting more force into the aspiration). Also - bonus if you can help me pronounce υ / οι. I've tried making the ι sound and then just bringing my lips together, especially focusing on puckering-up my bottom lip.

@BPK I hope you can chime-in on this. There's a really nifty YouTube channel called polýMATHY. This video apparently contradicts your (also BLC's) Reconstructed Koine pronunciation. Can you please comment on it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCv5dK1DOgw

I'm sure Dr. Kantor has addressed this already, but: Why are all the recordings / texts / everything made with the Vaticanus manuscript? Why not a critical edition like the NA28? It's the only thing about Dr. Kantor's approach that I am disappointed by. But I'm sure he has a good reason for it, so I'd like to understand. I really want to like it, but the more I think about it the more I feel like: Why wouldn't I want to use a critical edition if my whole goal of learning/reading/speaking Koine Greek is to get as close to the original writing/understanding as possible? Perhaps you could also comment on how often the Vaticanus differs from the NA28? I just watched the video on your YouTube channel where you introduce the Vaticanus Bible that you have produced (which I own!), but my questions still remain.

On the homepage, it says: "We pronounce Greek as it was pronounced in the Roman period (but with Byzantine/modern fricatives)." Can anyone explain what that bit about the fricatives means? Also, what was the thinking behind this decision?
