Hi johnpwatts, I'm 17 years old, also with no formal education in Koine Greek. There are probably scholars who can converse in this language. Anyhow, God has led me powerfully in my journey of learning it on the school bus and during the little free time that I have being a high school student. In my bible study, but it is a tiresome (physically, not spiritually) and slow process. I started with just using the website "stepbible.org", it has a user friendly interface and gives good simple definitions of the greek, with concordances and a multifunctional search bar to search for passages and word. Then I moved on to used Blue Letter Bible online, it has a search bar to search any passage in the bible and when your click into the verses after searching there is the interlinear toggle where you can click into the individual words and find the definitions of it and the grammatical information. It also provides the etymology of the words which is useful in understanding the word. It was with that that I slowly learned the strategies for bible study with regard to the greek, which improved my hermeneutics, and it also grew my understanding of the grammar. There is a side bar when you click into the words with the grammatical information which you can click into and it will explain the meanings of each grammatical information. They also provide a pdf folder for a more comprehensive explanation of the grammar (but is still very basic). Another website I used is logosapostolic.org, which provides etymological explanations and another source of definitions which you can cross reference with other dictionaries to have a better and more accurate view of the word of God. I hope this was helpful, and I pray that God will grant you understanding of the greek quickly and the power to learn it, and use it for His glory!
